Last month I had the pleasure of helping the National Corvette Museum Delivery Department with photography of a 60th Grand Sport Coupe. The gentleman that owns the car had won it in one of our Corvette raffles, and the photos that I took will appear in a leather bound photo album that he purchased.



We followed the car throughout the entire build process. It was followed from the bumper, freshly out of the paint booth, from the frame coming down the chassis line, from body panels and carpet installed to the drive train being married to body. This process took us a full two days to capture from 6:12am to 4:45pm.



As I sat waiting for the car to come to the next photo location I looked around and saw such pride in the employees faces as they work to build dreams for others. Here lies, what I consider, one of the greatest automobiles in the world, built by the greatest automakers in the world. The entire team from designers, sculptors, engineers, assemblers, test engineers, etc., each with the daunting task of creating the dreams of many.



Production for the 2013 Corvette will end in February of 2013, and the plant will be shut down for approximately six months to prepare for the 2014 C7 Corvette. It is going to be an amazing car and we are all so excited! Once the Corvette Assembly Plant is up and running again, we will continue offering the photo album to anyone who orders a new Corvette. You may be wondering what the difference is between a true restoration and a restomod. The answer is quite simple. A restoration is refurbishing the car to be mechanically and cosmetically the way it was when it was new. A restomod is taking a car and refurbishing it to appear stock or slightly modified with modern components to improve handling, drivability and performance.

So you’ve just convinced your wife that you “need” that supercharger for your 400+ hp Corvette, or that your C3 needs that heads and cam package, 5 speed tranny, beefed up suspension and big brake kit. You have a long list of modifications for your car that you want to do this winter and the bill is adding up. Have you thought about what will happen if you wreck your car? Collector Car Insurance through the National Corvette Museum Insurance Agency is extremely affordable. We consider cars to be modified when the performance has been increased 25% or more, the body, chassis, frame have been altered, custom paint job over $10K in value, more than $5,000 in other modifications, or stereo over $3,000. There are several items that we would not consider modifications, such as chrome/painted under hood accessories less than $5,000, rims, exhaust, intake, mild cam, etc. These type accessories would fall under the stock/minimal modification category.



We would be able to write your modified car under an Agreed Value policy, which means you and I agree upon a value that the car is worth in today’s market, and that would be what you would get paid if you have a total loss.



Typically our customers who have highly modified cars tend to drive their car less and also less aggressive, and making them great risks to cover. They generally take them out for car shows, local cruise-ins, club events or just for nice cruises.

National Collector Car Appreciation Day, now in its third year, was initiated by the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) to call attention to the hobby which has grown into an industry.

Shocked, surprised, overwhelmed and totally proud would be a great way to describe how NCM Insurance Agent, Adam Boca felt on the evening of American Modern Insurance Group’s annual Power of Partnership Awards Banquet. Held in Cincinnati, Ohio on June, 14, 2012, the event hosted the top movers and shakers for American Modern Insurance Group, and the NCM Insurance Agency was invited to be a part of the festivities.



Unaware of any award to be presented, Adam was invited to dine for the evening at a reserved table consisting of owners, presidents and CEO’s of not only American Modern Insurance Group, but top executives in the business world. “I knew something special was happening when I was asked to take a seat among these special industry icons,” Adam shared when he returned to the NCM.



During the evening’s festivities it became pretty obvious to Adam that the seating arrangement had a special purpose. The announcement began by naming some very unique accomplishments of the NCM Insurance Agency:

We have been speaking with several of our friends in Colorado and New Mexico today who have collector cars protected through the National Corvette Museum’s Insurance Program. Our thoughts go out to residents in Colorado and New Mexico, as wildfires are within close proximity of damaging and destroying their homes and property. Although we are unable to increase coverage or lower deductibles on existing policies – we do have a plan in place to help make this stressful time a bit more manageable with regards to their prized collector cars.



For NCM Insurance customers who are in the path of these fierce wildfires, we have made available relocation expense reimbursement that provides reimbursement for 50% of the temporary relocation costs when moving NCM Insured collector cars to a safer location, subject to a maximum of $200 per collector car and $2,500 per policy.
